This degree program is primarily designed to prepare students for a career as artists, creators, researchers, curators etc and in the teaching of the creative and performing arts.
Students will specialise in either Visual Arts or Contemporary Fashion studies. Students combine professional education studies with specialist content studies. Graduates will have a qualification in the contemporary arts and will be a highly skilled and knowledgeable practitioners allowing them to access a wide range of career-related opportunities.

COURSE STRUCTURE
The Bachelor of Contemporary Arts degree is a 360 credit point, three year full-time award which may be studied in part-time mode.
The degree has three main components:
- a foundation program of four core units (two compulsory and two chosen) and four electives related to a specialised area (60 credit points)
- a Major program consisting of 120 credit points in a specialised area (listed below)
- a supplementary program consisting of 120 credit points comprising:
- a second Major from the Bachelor of Contemporary Arts or from elsewhere within the School or outside the School; or
- a Minor study (90 credit points), plus two electives (30 credit points); or
- an elective program of 120 credit points.
GENERAL RULES
Whatever pattern students choose:
- normally no more than 150 credit points may be studied at first year level;
- at least 60 credit points must be at third year level.

RECOMMENDED ELECTIVES |
It is recommended that students intending to study the Double Major in Contemporary Performance and Theatre Studies complete PER1105 as an elective in the foundation year (Year One). |
Students completing the Double major MUST complete PAM1002 as an elective. |

Students embark on their Major programs in the first year of study. Major programs consist of 120 credit points worth of study, and 240 credit points for the Double Major. Students must complete one or two Major programs within the School of Communications&Arts, or they may elect to complete the Double Major.
