The Associate Degree in Criminology and Justice adopts a contemporary approach to the education of practitioners in the areas of police and corrections. Students will develop an understanding of the theory and research that informs policing practice and offender management. They will also acquire skills in the practical application of policing and offender management.
The course links closely with the WA Police Academy and the Corrective Services Training Academy, giving students the opportunity to participate in relevant practical training. The course is designed as an entry pathway to policing or corrections.
The Associate Degree in Criminology and Justice is designed as a career development opportunity for those working in the area of policing, security, public safety, custodial corrections or community corrections. This course offers police and corrective services personnel a unique platform into tertiary education. Through this course students can apply their existing knowledge of policing or offender management to develop university level skills such as researching, academic writing and critical thinking. |

SPECIAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS In addition, students will need to meet the admission requirements of the Western Australian Police Academy or the Corrective Services Training Academy. With the approval of the course coordinator, applicants who have previously completed equivalent police training in another jurisdiction will be considered for entrance.

WA Police and Corrective Services training is only available full-time and delivered on campus at the relevant training academy. |

COURSE STRUCTURE The Associate Degree in Crimonology and Justice requires a minimum of 240 credit points (13 units) and normally requires two years full time study or the part time equivalent.
