ECS3010 Embracing Diversity

Description:

This unit provides pre-service teachers  with current knowledge and understanding of the diverse abilities of young children from birth to eight years.  It prepares them to work with children with disabilities, gifted and talented and children who have English as a second language.  Pre-service teachers will analyse current theory and research in order to develop differentiated curriculum which is outcomes based, culturally responsive and inclusive of all children.  Diversity is valued and partnerships strengthened through participation in community experiences.  Theoretical and practical connections are formed as pre-service teachers work in partnership with children and their families, professionals and community agencies.
