HPE2010 Health and Physical Education for Young Children

Description:

This unit introduces pre-service teachers to the philosophies and practices that are currently used in the teaching and learning of health and physical education in the early years. Emphasis is placed on the development of appropriate knowledge and teaching skills to facilitate the planning, implementation and assessment of outcomes-based learning in the Health and Physical Education Learning Area. The study of fundamental movement skills and movement concepts is embedded throughout the unit. A significant practical component provides opportunities for pre-service teachers to engage in and plan a variety of learning experiences and environments that promote children’s confident participation in movement activities and healthy, active lifestyles.
