ECS1110 Introduction to Teaching
SCHOOL OF EDUCATION
Credit Points: 15

Description:

This unit uses reflective processes to engage and extend pre-service teachers’ thinking about the role of teachers and teaching as a profession.  The unit provides opportunities for pre-service teachers to visit West Australian schools to examine contexts, policies and trends and develop an understanding of the current relevant documentation used by teachers in these schools. A minimum of eight full day school visits will be completed. The focus is on the role of the teacher and the use of teacher competencies as a tool for reflecting on practice.  Pre-service teachers critically examine effective teaching whilst observing teachers in classroom settings both in a video format and school.
