LIT3010 Language and Literacies for Diverse Learners

Description:

This unit provides students with an awareness of language and literacy issues for learners for whom English as an Additional Language (EAL) or Standard Australian English is an Additional Dialect (SAEAD). Pre-service teachers will explore the needs of linguistically and culturally diverse learners in the mainstream classroom and will investigate approaches for addressing these needs. The unit will be informed by current perspectives and issues relating to language learning and teaching, including multiliteracies, across the curriculum. Pre-service teachers will be introduced to methods of evaluating the needs of EAL/SAEAD learners, including current curriculum documents.
