A83 Advanced Diploma of Music (Music Production)

This is a vocational program aimed at creating studio producers for the commercial music industry. On completion of this award, it is expected that students will find employment as recording studio producers/technicians for musicians in performing groups, the recording industry, and related areas of television, radio, film/video and commercial theatre. Successful students may audition for other courses within the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts.

 

This VET course is offered by WAAPA as a Registered Training Organisation under the Australian Quality Training Framework. The Units of Competence from the nationally accredited Music (CUS01) Industry Training Package are clustered within the course delivery units. These delivery units form training in the industry areas of studio recording and production – including surround, music for film and video, songwriting-arranging, electronic music, concert practice, history, theory-rhythm studies, aural, keyboard skills, professional practice and professional management. Details of the specific delivery arrangement for each Unit of Competence are available from the relevant course coordinator or the Programme Director of Music.  The course includes all the Music Industry Training Package requirements for the Advanced Diploma of Music on the successful completion of two years full-time study.

Applicants are required to undergo audition and interview before acceptance. Information relating to audition and interview requirements and procedures is available from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. COURSE STRUCTURE

All delivery units are full year units.

 

The Advanced Diploma in Music (Music Production) course at WAAPA provides students with a total of 29 units from the Music Training Package. Students commence the program at AQF level 5 - Diploma and graduate at AQF level 6 - Advanced Diploma after two years full time study.

 

In Year One of the program, students complete 14 units of pre-requisite knowledge from the AQF level 5 - Diploma.  In Year Two, students complete an additional 15 units to qualify for the Advanced Diploma of Music.
