MAAAHX  Nutrition Major  

This unit set is available in the following courses:

The nutrition major comprises 180 credit points (12 units) and is designed to provide students with an understanding of the known nutrients, the non-nutrient substances in food, the assessment of nutritional status, nutritional needs during the lifecycle, the psychology and sociology of food habits, and current controversies in nutrition. A major in nutrition prepares graduates to be able to work in health promotion roles in a range of community settings.

 

Students completing the nutrition major who DO NOT wish to be eligible for entry into postgraduate courses in nutrition and dietetics, may make the following substitution (depending upon when they entered the Bachelor of Health Science):

  • February-entry students may substitute HST2100 (Health Promotion Practicum) or HST2111 (Health Promotion Strategies) for SCH2111/SCH3239;

       

        or

  • July-entry students may substitute HST2100 (Health Promotion Practicum) or HST2111 (Health Promotion Strategies) for SCH1133/SCH2235.

 

 

Students who wish to apply for entry into postgraduate nutrition and dietetics courses may not make the above substitution.
