The contemporary performance/theatre studies double major provides a strong connection between contemporary performance and theatre skills. It gives students foundation skills in theatre underpinned by contemporary performance theory and practice which enrich the creative possibilities for student projects. Through the theatre studies major the course provides the opportunity to gain skills in the areas of acting, vocal technique, playwriting, directing, improvisation, dance and more. The course aims to provide some flexibility to choose subjects depending on the student’s area of specialisation. The contemporary performance major explores original, self-devised and collaborative approaches to writing, performing, directing and staging for contemporary theatre. Practical & theoretical units cover a variety of live arts genres that are non-naturalistic, physical, political, site specific and community based, including styles such as techno storytelling, performance art, theatre anthropology, puppetry, festival, street performance and more. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
