MBA5601 Accounting for Managerial Decision Making

Description:

This unit focuses students on the critical role of financial and management accounting both in theory and practice for planning, control and ethical decision making by managers and those charged with governance in real world scenarios.

 

It has a managerial focus of analysing and interpreting both financial and non-financial accounting information and does not cover the actual preparation of accounts using debits, credits or journals The content covers measurement and management of organisational performance to highlight the effective use of financial resources using frameworks, techniques and methodologies, such as, financial statement analysis, costing methodologies, profitability analysis, capital budgeting, performance frameworks, and management control systems in the strategic context. It emphasises on the contemporary approach of integrating accounting with strategy and performance for managerial decision-making.

 

For these reasons, the analytical, appraisal, thinking, problem-solving, team work, written and oral communications skills are developed using the "case study method".
