Description:

Young adults frequently appear in the media as problems within society. This unit investigates the problems that young adults themselves experience by exploring the concept of adolescence as reflected in literature over a number of decades. It examines such questions as the disappearance of childhood, reader response, and the treatment of contemporary issues in recent fiction. It also considers child development with special emphasis on the years of young adulthood.
