MSM2115 Materials Conservation in Museums

This unit examines preventive conservation principles and the basic treatments and techniques used in the care of museum collections. Students will consider the environmental needs of a range of object types normally found in museum collections and review how these are handled, stored and conserved. Some ethical and cultural issues associated with treatment and display of objects will also be discussed.
