The Graduate Diploma of Social Science (Children and Family Studies) course is designed for professionals working with children and families who are seeking an understanding of issues related to children’s development, child rearing, parenting and community services for children and families.
The Graduate Diploma qualifies graduates to work as qualified childcare personnel to Western Australian state licensing requirements (A* rating as defined in the legislation). |

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS A three year degree in an associated area of study from a recognised tertiary institution or the equivalent. |

COURSE STRUCTURE The Graduate Diploma of Social Science (Children and Family Studies) is equivalent to 18 months full-time study but can only be completed over 2 years. A 2 year enrolment is defined as full-time. Students may also complete the course by part-time study. It is available internally on Joondalup campus, externally (online), or in a mixed mode study which combines internal study on Joondalup campus with some external units.
Students must undertake eight theory units and four professional practice units (12 x 15 = 180 Credit Points). The four professional practice units are taught in collaboration with Central TAFE. |
