J26 Master of Criminal Justice by Research

In this course, students will conduct independent research and prepare a research thesis. The emphasis is on student-centred learning and high quality, confident and competent scholastic achievement in research. This course will facilitate independent thought, and will require the student to conceive, plan and conduct a piece of research, taking into account the logistical and practical aspects of conducting applied research.  The work will be judged on its theoretical coherence, appropriate use of a research method, ethical conduct of the study and data collection, correct analysis of data, and appropriate conclusions and their relevance to justice, criminology, compliance or law enforcement.

 
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Available to applicants with a recognised undergraduate degree.

Some units will be available in the off-campus mode of delivery.
 
COURSE STRUCTURE

This course comprises two years of full-time study or the part-time equivalent. The program includes two stages. Stage 1 requires the completion of 120 credit points (6 units). Stage 2 requires the completion of a thesis.

YEAR TWO
The thesis component of this course is entirely research based and equivalent to one year full-time study. Each semester students will enrol into the research thesis unit:
 
JUS6200 Masters Thesis 0 
 
at 50 or 100% of the full-time enrolment.

Students are required to continue re-enrolling in the thesis component of their study until the thesis is submitted for examination.
