C21 Associate Degree in Criminology and Justice (Policing)

This course adopts a contemporary approach to police education within the context of criminology and justice. Students will develop an understanding of the theory and research that informs policing practice. They will also acquire skills in the practical application of policing.

The course links closely with the WA Police Academy, giving students the opportunity to participate in scenario training, police ceremonies and physical training. The course is recognised by the Western Australian Police and is designed as an entry pathway to policing. Upon completion, and after meeting all entrance requirements of the Western Australia Police, graduates are guaranteed employment as a probationary police constable.

The Associate Degree in Criminology and Justice (Policing) is also designed as a career development opportunity for those working in the area of policing, security or public safety. This course offers police officers a unique platform into tertiary education. It is the only degree in Australia that gives recognition of prior learning to serving officers for recruitment or DEAT training. Through this course students can apply their existing knowledge of policing to develop university level skills such as researching, academic writing and critical thinking.
