K36 Bachelor of Communications Honours

This Honours course consists of a fourth year of study for students who have completed the third year of the Bachelor of Communications. Students who are interested in postgraduate research studies are encouraged to apply for admission to the Honours year. The Bachelor of Communications Honours is a one year full-time program offered in the following areas:

Advertising

Creative Services

Journalism

Mass Communication

Media and Cultural Studies

Public Relations

Scriptwriting

The Honours course consists of two elements:

  1. three taught units in which students carry out background research that informs their research project; engage in an academic discourse about their ideas; and present a research proposal;
  2. the completion of a research project under the supervision of an academic mentor.

 

NOTE: This course is a one year programme for full-time students and an eighteen month programme for part-time students.

 
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

In order to be eligible for consideration for provisional admission to Honours, students should normally have a minimum course average of 70 per cent at the end of semester 1, year three, of their study program. In special circumstances, it may be possible for students with lower averages to enter the Honours program. In these cases students should contact the Honours coordinator directly to discuss possible admission.
