C15 Diploma of Planning

The Diploma of Planning will draw on the University’s broadly based expertise to provide an innovative introductory planning course which addresses social, environmental and governance issues. Graduates should have an understanding of the planning and development industries;  in particular knowledge and skills in relevant legislation, planning and development. They will be sought after to provide technical support to the planning and development industries.
 
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Standard University Admission requirements apply.

 

ADVANCED STANDING

Students who have completed equivalent units at another institution may apply for advanced standing for those units.
 
COURSE LOCATION
This course is available on Joondalup Campus.

All studies will be based at the Joondalup campus. However, depending on choice of subjects, students may be required to travel to either of the Metro campuses (Joondalup, Mount Lawley).
 
MODE OF STUDY
This course is available by Full-time, or Part-time mode.
 
MODE OF DELIVERY
This course is available in the following modes of delivery - On-campus, and Online.
 
COURSE STRUCTURE

The Diploma of Planning requires the completion of units totalling 120 credit points and normally requires one year of full-time study or the part-time equivalent.

 

The degree has the following main components:

  1. A core program of 75 credit points
  2. An elective program of 45 credit points

 
 
YEAR ONE - SEMESTER 1
Students are required to complete the following core units
 
PLN1600 Foundations of Planning 15
LAW1100 Legal Framework I *** 15
PLN3600 Strategic Urban and Regional Planning 15
 
Plus one Elective
 
***With approval, students who have relevant work experience in local or state government or in a relevant private sector organisation may choose to take LAW2602 Environmental Law and Administration
 
YEAR ONE - SEMESTER 2
Students are required to complete the following units
 
PLN3601 Statutory Planning 15
BES1100 Foundations of Business Knowledge 15
 
Plus two Electives

Students are required to complete three of the following Elective units during the course.
