This unit provides an introduction to the area of alcohol and other drug use with particular emphasis on: values and attitudes towards drug use; factors influencing drug-taking and subjective drug experiences; drug-related harm; the harm minimisation concept and demand reduction, supply control and harm reduction strategies and a critical review of major concepts of dependency and addiction.
