Description:

This unit provides an overview of the range of services and educational opportunities available to children with special educational needs. It focuses on children with autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy and looks at how to meet individual needs within the context of both mainstream programmes and special programmes. It also examines the issues of acceptance of disability in the community and school.  It provides information on the place of Individual Education Plans in the education of these students and how they are devised.
