Description:

This is the second of two units that focus on the teaching and learning of mathematics. In this unit students will focus on mathematics appropriate for children six years and over. A number of topics from the strands of mathematics will be explored in order to assist students to develop a sound understanding of the language, skills and concepts required by these children. Opportunities will be provided to enable students to become familiar with materials and equipment used to enhance children’s mathematical understanding. Strategies for assessing and supporting children’s learning will be discussed. Teacher-made resources will feature prominently in the unit.
