EAP0105 Supporting Student Learning in Maths 1

Description:

This is the first of two units which focus on the teaching and learning of mathematics K - 3.  In this unit which will focus on four and five year old children, students will develop a basic overview and understanding of the current philosophy underpinning mathematics education for young children.   Practical opportunities designed to develop a basic knowledge of mathematical language, content and skills appropriate for this age group will be provided.  The integration of mathematics across the curriculum will be explored with a particular reference to integration with the skills of science. Strategies for supporting and assessing children’s learning will be discussed.
