MYS4104 Middle Schooling Curriculum and Pedagogy
SCHOOL OF EDUCATION
Credit Points: 10

Description:

The essence of middle schooling lies not in organisational structures.  Rather, it lies in a curriculum, pedagogy and classroom culture based on the principles of constructivism, cooperative learning and open, inclusive communities.  These principles are critical for ensuring that schooling meets the young adolescents' needs for engagement, independence, identity, and belonging.  During this unit, students will become familiar with outcomes-based education, curriculum frameworks, integrative curriculum, curriculum design, authentic achievement and productive pedagogies.
