CUE3103 Science and Young Children
SCHOOL OF EDUCATION
Credit Points: 12

Description:

This unit provides opportunities for the students to examine the purpose and nature of science teaching and learning and the application of science in daily life. The students reflect on and develop their own scientific literacy and knowledge. There is a focus on students identifying and analysing the processes underpinning scientific investigations as an essential element for science teaching and learning.  The unit promotes child-centred science learning.  The literacies of science are investigated, as students plan and sequence science experiences for young children. They develop science concepts, skills and values by using a variety of strategies associated with effective teaching.  Students observe and reflect on science teaching practices in early childhood.
