CUE2102 Mathematics Education for Young Children 1

Description:

This unit introduces Early Childhood Education students to the basic philosophy and fundamental ideas of early mathematics education.  Students will be introduced to the documentation of  the Western Australian Curriculum Council and apply the content to the planning and assessment of early mathematics experiences.  In this unit, the focus is on the early development of the concepts, skills and language of the Working Mathematically, Number, Chance and Data and Algebra strands of mathematics.  The role of the teacher in the development of positive attitudes to mathematics will be emphasised.
