ERP2200 School Experience Practice (Early Childhood)

Description:

During this professional practice, student teachers continue to develop and build on the skills introduced during the School Experience Practices, in the first year of the course. This four-week block practice will be the students’ first experience with continuous teaching. Student teachers will be required to demonstrate competency in planning for a range of learning experiences and carrying out teaching sessions effectively. They are expected to demonstrate skills which engage and motivate students actively in developing knowledge in relation to outcomes, understand how students develop and learn, communicate effectively, develop positive relationships and use effective management techniques. Student teachers will be required to use teaching strategies that promote problem solving and creativity and implement an inclusive approach to classroom management and learning. A reflective approach to the teaching-learning process will be implemented. Teaching practices are embedded in area of specialisation units and student teachers will be required to link the theory from these units to their practice experiences.
