SCHOOL OF REGIONAL PROFESSIONAL STUDIES
Credit Points: 10

Description:

This unit focuses on how we learn. It examines theoretical frameworks relevant to the development of mathematical concepts. It challenges attitudes about mathematics and mathematics education. A thinking skills focus will ensure critical, creative and reflective thinking is applied to many different learning situations. Students will develop the confidence to provide engaging and innovative experiences to cater for a range of learning styles and diverse needs. A dynamic “hands on” approach that models a vigorous and constructivist approach will help students build a repertoire of stimulating teaching and learning experiences. Students will also develop their skills with written, mental and calculator computations, the use of ICT to promote learning and, integrating mathematics with other learning areas.
