YWK2261 Youth Work and the Law

Description:
This unit will focus on the implications of legal issues for youth work practice. This will include an examination of the impact of legislation on youth agency policy and practices. This unit will also include an examination of the juvenile justice process; the role of the children’s court; the statutory responsibilities of the Department of Family and Community; an examination of the role of support agencies for young people in trouble with the law. The unit has a field-based practicum component.
