CMM5113 Asian Cinema Studies

Description:
This unit looks at the development of the Asian cinema from its beginning in a colonial world to the present. It looks in particular at the complex relationship between culture and politics in both colonial and postcolonial settings and the manner in which film articulates national and class aspirations. Because of the scope of this subject the unit will focus on the Chinese, Indian and Japanese cinemas.
