MYS4001 Adolescent Development

Description:
This unit aims to strengthen the capacity of students to relate positively to young adolescents. It focuses on understanding youth behaviour, taking a non-judgemental approach to that behaviour, and learning strategies for managing student behaviour inside and outside the classroom. Consideration is given to the social and maturational factors that affect youth identity, interpersonal power and negotiation, independence, conformity, alienation, values and aspirations. On all these matters, the unit will explore the commonalties and diversity that characterise adolescent development.
