In this unit students will focus on the need for a philosophy of music education and wide ranging content as a basis for curriculum design. Different philosophies and methodologies will be examined as they relate to music education in the lower secondary school. Practical components will include studying aspects of secondary ensemble and choral conducting, arranging, jazz and popular music in the curriculum as well as study of the Arts Outcomes and the Curriculum Framework.
