Description:
This unit provides an introduction to Aboriginal English as a dialect of English and a grounding in the techniques of data elicitation and analysis which are associated with the research-based study of Aboriginal English. It provides a theoretical framework within which the range of varieties of Aboriginal English may be understood and introduces the student to the wider field of the international study of pidgins, creoles, world Englishes and non-standard dialect studies.
