EAP0002 Supporting Student Learning in Mathematics

Description:

This unit initially orients students to study by introducing the program structure and importanty study skills such as note-taking, preparing written and oral presentations, and assisting students to become familiar with the University's referencing techniques. This unit will focus on the teaching and learning of mathematics K-6 years and over.  An number of topics from the strand of mathematics will be explored in order to assist students to develop a sound understanding of the language, skills and concepts required by these children. Opportunities will be provided to enable students to become familiar with materials and equipment used to enhance children's mathematical understanding.  The integration of mathematics across the curriculum will be explored with a particular reference to integration with the skills of science.  Strategies for assessing and supporting children's learning will be discussed. Non commercially made resouces will feature prominently in the unit.
