This unit introduces the education system in which teachers work, and the roles that they fulfil within this education system. Unit participants will need to know the functions of the school system in socialising citizens for economic, political and social roles. The unit further enables participants to understand the rationale of major education policies and recent government initiatives that impact the work of teachers and school leaders.
