This unit is an in-depth study of the Society and Environment Learning Area with teaching/learning examples tailored to the middle years. It includes global education, peace studies, values education and civics education and focuses on social , ecological , cultural , critical and political literacy. It will explore resource issues in sustainable development and their impact on fragile ecological systems. It will also involve a study of traditions, cultures, place and change, with a particular emphasis on the integrated, multi-disciplinary nature of sustainability. The unit emphasises transformative learning for personal, social and global change in the context of policies and implications for schools. Full Unit Outline | |||
