ERC1114 Working in Regional and Remote Communities

Description:

This unit will provide an introduction to rural, regional and remote (RRR) issues for the professions.  The unit will draw on theoretical frameworks and concepts from social psychology, cultural geography and post modernism to critically explore contemporary issues affecting the sustainability of RRR communities.  The role of the RRR school, indigenous issues, globalisation and other contextual factors in shaping RRR realities will be considered.  Major aims of the unit will be to explore what it is to be Australians in a multi cultural environment and the impacts these have on living and teaching in a RRR context.
