MNH2011 Assessment and Practice in Rural and Remote Mental Health

Description:

This unit provides students with opportunity to gain knowledge of effective interventions to meet the mental health needs of adults who live in rural and remote areas. Student will learn how to conduct a risk assessment, mental status assessment, and intervene therapeutically in psychiatric emergencies in a culturally sensitive way. Students will also gain basic knowledge of the common medications used in the treatment of mental illness, their effect on a person’s recovery and their role in facilitating treatment adherence.
