AED2104 Art Education (ECS)
SCHOOL OF EDUCATION
Credit Points: 12

Description:
This unit addresses the role of the visual arts at the 0-8 years to provide experiences in the use of visual forms and images as a means for personal expression and communication. The unit will develop an understanding that the visual arts offer unique ways of expressing and interpreting ideas and feelings. These experiences will include activities such as drawing, painting, print making, sculpture, design and assemblage. Each of these studio areas produce uniquely different results in terms of visual qualities, form and appearance. In the studio workshop sessions, the students will be directed to develop their observation skills and imagination using simple materials and processes. The students will also develop visual arts programming skills and for integration across the curricula. A range of visual works will be viewed so that students will learn to recognise different styles, meanings and functions of these works from past and present contexts.
