Description:

This unit covers the principles of operation, device physics and modelling of advanced semiconductor devices, such as heterojunction bipolar and field effect transistors. Selected novel opto-electronic and quantum devices are also introduced. The unit emphasises the latest developments in this technology and provides an extensive understanding of materials and device concepts that will form the basis of future ULSI and photonic circuit technology.
