GEO3112 Great Divides: World Geographies of Development

Description:

Students will be introduced to world geographies of development. Concepts to be examined will include human rights, democracy, environment, gender, development, underdevelopment, alternative development, power, resistance, freedom, wars, North/South, East/West, and Us/Them divides, international aid and international trade.  Key ideas and debates concerning world development and global inequalities will be explored. Students will examine specific places of ‘underdevelopment’ in countries of Africa, South America and the Asia Pacific.
