MSE4251 Learning and Teaching Mathematics 2

Description:
This unit extends the introduction to the teaching and learning of secondary school mathematics provided by the unit MSE4150. Contributions made to the theory of teaching and learning mathematics by writers such as Bruner, Dienes, Skemp, and von Glasersfeld will be examined. Students will consider a number of important issues involved in the teaching and learning of mathematics in particular the issues of assessment and technology in secondary school mathematics. The issues of gender, language and culture as they relate to mathematics teaching and learning will also be considered.
