MAN3246 International and Comparative Human Resource Management
SCHOOL OF BUSINESS
Credit Points: 15
Prerequisites:
MAN2145 Human Resource Management II

Description:

Over the last few decades, an increasing number of firms have moved outside their domestic borders and into the turbulent environment of international business.  Many companies are finding it expedient to import resources from all over the world, establish manufacturing plants in overseas locations, and to market their products globally.  As a result, a large proportion of an increasing number of firms is located in other countries.

The Internationalisation of business is forcing managers to come to grips with a multitude of complex issues as they attempt to maintain a competitive advantage.  One of these is that of developing and maintaining a committed and productive workforce.  Firms are discovering that they must develop and manage the skills, knowledge, and experience of employees in the international arena.  This is just as true for the human resource management function (HRM) as it is for other business functions.
