Description:

Good ideas need to be given life, and this practice-based unit provides the capability to achieve that. Ideas that may convert into products and services and/or into benefits for society or the natural environment require an appropriate form of implementation plan. This unit encourages an international perspective in the development of innovation ideas and their manifestation as significant and substantial benefits to organisations and/or populations to whom they are directed. For example, beneficiaries may include companies wanting a competitive edge; governments attempting to provide societal benefits; and groups attempting to provide benefits to animals and natural environments. Commercialisation is used to describe this process which typically includes a range of issues to be addressed including: legal constraints, cultural influences, financial management, management of social, financial, reputational, physical, and operational risks.
