ENS2110 Materials and Manufacturing 2
SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING
Credit Points: 15

Description:

This unit develops students' knowledge of engineering metallic materials (ferrous, non-ferrous and alloys) and enables them to select materials on the basis of their inherent properties and the processing techniques that are applicable to them. It gives students the knowledge to relate the failure of these materials to the failure of engineering products and systems, with due consideration to the geometry of components. The unit covers surface treatments, corrosion and corrosion protection.  The unit also introduces students to a range of manufacturing and machining processes.  Manufacturing automation is introduced through CNC machines and other computer based technologies.  Concepts of measurement and inspection will also be covered.
