PSE4102 School Psychologist as Classroom Practitioner
SCHOOL OF EDUCATION
Credit Points: 10

Description:

This unit explores in more detail the theory and practice of the work of school psychologists and how effective school psychologists carry out their responsibilities in a High School. The roles and relationships held with school members is defined by these activities.  The place of a school psychologist within a school setting is in transition and as such requires school psychologists to work in less traditional areas.  One such area is the classroom.  Teaching in the classroom is a different relationship than a student counsellor one and demands that the school psychologiost to navigate the change in relationships with students and staff.  The unit also aims to enhance the prospective school psychologist’s skills, including ways in which they can effectively assist classroom teachers in their work.
