Credit Points: 15

Description:
This is a Designated Unit involving a three week placement in a secondary school. This Professional Practice is an orientation practicum which provides Pre-service Teachers with the opportunity to develop an understanding of schools and schooling from a teacher’s perspective - and to start to learn the complex role of a teacher. During this Professional Practice it is important that Pre-service Teachers learn to work collaboratively with Mentor Teachers, University Colleagues and their fellow students and in a way which makes them an asset to the teachers with whom they are to work and learn. Pre-service Teachers are required to be available during the scheduled Professional Practice periods as per the School of Education Calendar and to give a full-time commitment to the school during the scheduled days. All Pre-service Teachers will be required to adhere to the School of Education's Professional Practice Rules and Procedures and Code of Professional Conduct and to hold a current National Criminal History Record Check (CRC) and Working with Children Check (WWC) before commencing their practicum.
