This unit explores some of the major sub-genres of children’s literature over the last twenty-five years. It focuses on the representation of contemporary social issues as they pertain to children. The unit is concerned with recent changes regarding the notion of literature, and discusses the aspects of children’s literature that reflect developments in theories of language, culture, the writer, and the reader.
