In this unit students will study the practical aspects of commercial practice, conveyancing and drafting, with the major focus being on documentary transactions.  The unit will begin with a study of plain English writing as a foundation for legal writing and drafting, before applying these writing skills to documentary transactions which will be studied from the taking of client instructions through to stamping, settlement and registration.  Lawyers' professional obligations will also be examined in the context of the completion of documentary transactions.
