MSM3102 Museum Studies
SCHOOL OF COMMUNICATIONS AND ARTS
Credit Points: 15

Description:

This unit is designed to foster knowledge and skills relating to the care and management of material culture collections, especially those in a museum. In addition it is concerned with how collections have evolved and how they are and might be used both for scholarly and recreational purposes. The unit seeks to blend both theoretical and practical aspects so as to provide a sound professional foundation for more advanced studies in museology. Weekend workshops allow for maximising the practical application of skills and understandings within a museum environment while the tutorial stream allows for consideration of theoretical aspects at a greater depth.
