This degree programme is primarily designed to prepare students for a career as artists, creators, researchers, curators etc and in the teaching of the creative and performing arts.
Students will specialise in either Visual Arts, Contemporary Performance, Contemporary Fashion studies. Students combine professional education studies with specialist content studies. Graduates will have a qualification in the contemporary arts and will be a highly skilled and knowledgeable practitioners allowing them to access a wide range of career-related opportunities.
Students in Geraldton are given the opportunity to study the Visual Arts major through the Geraldton Universities Centre (GUC).

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Standard University Admission requirements apply. In addition, students will be required to have a portfolio interview or audition for the Bachelor of Contemporary Arts programme.

COURSE STRUCTURE
The Bachelor of Contemporary Arts degree is a 360 credit point, three year full-time award which may be studied in part-time mode.
The degree has three main components:
- a foundation programme of four units and four specialised electives, completed in first year
- a Major programme consisting of eight units in a specialised area (listed above)
- a supplementary programme consisting of eight units from one of the following options:
- a second Major from the Bachelor of Contemporary Arts or from any other programme in School of Communications & Contemporary Arts; or at ECU; or
- a Minor study from outside the School, plus electives; or
- an elective programme of eight units.
GENERAL RULES
Whatever pattern students choose:
- normally no more than ten of the units studied should be at first year level;
- at least four units must be at third year level.

In the second year, students embark on their Major programs. Major programs consist of 120CP worth of study. Students must complete one or two Major programs within School of Communications&Contemporary Arts. In the Bachelor of Contemporary Arts the following majors are available:
