This unit will introduce students to alternative dispute resolution methods in a theoretical, critical and evaluative light. A range of ADR processes across a spectrum of applications will be considered, with special attention given to commercial, family, discrimination and international disputes. An examination of the domestic and international contexts will be undertaken to ensure that the student will have a global view of alternative dispute resolution including comparisons from other jurisdictions. (Note: alternative dispute resolution methods will be embedded into the LLB program through case studies implemented as methods of assessment in a number of substantive LLB areas). The unit will engage students in ADR and negotiation exercises and role plays and assess them on their participation. | |||
